Patrick Schaufuss

Patrick Schaufuss is a core leader of the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility, advising clients on energy and powertrain transition, vehicle electrification, emissions regulation, battery technology, EV strategy, supply chain resilience, and advanced mobility trends. Since 2009, he has worked across the automotive value chain, supporting Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, raw-materials and chemical companies, EV and battery manufacturers, fuel cell producers, OEMs, mobility and tech start-ups, investors, industry associations, and public-sector clients on sustainable mobility and decarbonization. Patrick has led engagements in around 20 countries, including two years in the United States and one year in Asia. His recent work includes powertrain and EV go-to-market strategies, battery sourcing, cost optimization, make-or-buy decisions, ESG and risk management, post-merger integration, portfolio transformation, profitability and turnaround programs, and commercial and technical due diligences. He shapes McKinsey’s perspective on transport decarbonization and e-mobility, working closely with key institutions, associations, and industry stakeholders, and co-leads the firm’s research on sustainable mobility and electrification. Patrick holds degrees in Aerospace and Industrial Engineering from TU Munich and Ecole Centrale Paris, and an MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona.
