Dr. Jörg Burzer
Member of the Board of Management, Chief Technology Officer, Development & Procurement, Mercedes Benz Group AG
Dr. Jörg Burzer was born on January 21, 1970, in Nuremberg. After graduating from high school, Dr. Jörg Burzer studied engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, graduating with a degree in engineering in 1996. He received his doctorate in engineering in 2000. In 1999, he joined what was then DaimlerChrysler AG.
He held numerous positions of responsibility within the company in the following years. After working in project management for passenger car pre-development, he moved to the Powertrain Purchasing and Materials Management department in 2002. In 2004, he took on the position of Senior Manager in the global Powertrain division. From 2007, he was Director of Interior Purchasing for the E-Class and C-Class. In 2010, he took over as Head of Production Control and Logistics at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. in Tuscaloosa (USA).
In 2013, he was sent to Beijing, where he was Director at Daimler Greater China Ltd. responsible for product and production strategy as well as supplier quality. In 2016, he returned to Germany and headed Quality Management for Mercedes-Benz Cars at Daimler AG as Vice President. In 2019, he became Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz AG with responsibility for Production and Supply Chain Management. Since 2021, Dr. Jörg Burzer has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, where he is responsible for production, quality, and supply chain management.
