Dr. Marcus Bollig
Managing Director, German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)
Dr. Marcus Bollig, born in 1967, has been Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) since May 2022. He is responsible for the business unit „Product and Value Creation“. After studying Mechanical Engineering and completing his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University, the Bonn native joined BMW AG in 1998. There, Dr. Marcus Bollig focused on powertrain development, and from 2011 onward, as Head of Main Department, he initially led the project „New Technologies and Electrification“. In the years that followed, he headed various additional technical areas, including „Efficient Dynamics“, „Vehicle Research Overall“, and most recently „Powertrain Process“. At the VDA, Dr. Marcus Bollig applies his expertise in powertrain systems and complete vehicle engineering to mediate between the interests of policymakers, authorities, and manufacturers when defining technical regulations. His technological focus is on the transformation toward climate-neutral mobility and digitalization.
