Martin Arend

    Head of Automotive Security, BMW Group

    Since 2019, Martin Arend has served as General Manager, Automotive Security. His responsibilities include setting automotive security standards, methods, processes, strategy, architecture, and functionality for the connected car within the BMW Group.
    Martin Arend began his career as a Business Development Manager in a mid-sized company, introducing Bluetooth technology into clients’ projects. He joined the BMW Group in 2003 as a telephony/telematics specialist and was promoted to Head of CE Connectivity in 2010. In 2014, he moved to the role of Head of Sensors and Algorithms for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). In 2015, he took on the position of General Manager E/E Architecture, Technologies within BMW Research, New Technologies, Innovations, responsible for research and predevelopment with a focus on future vehicle architectures, enabling and software technologies, including security, at an early stage of the development process.
    He earned his degree in electrical engineering at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule in Amberg, Bavaria. He holds several international patents for the BMW Group.
